ONE ENGLISH PUNTER has enjoyed a Great Friday – after a speculative £1 bet on the outcomes of 12 different soccer matches came in with odds of almost 25,000-to-1.
The anonymous gambler put the £1 bet on the outcomes of each of the 12 games in the Npower League 1 over the long weekend, predicting the outcome of the five fixtures taking place on Friday and the seven on Saturday.
Paddy Power said the Hertfordshire-based punter, who wants to remain anonymous, regularly bets £1 accumulators on the weekend’s games but this marks the first time they have come in.
The weekend’s results – with cumulative odds of 24,546/1 – included six home wins, three away wins and three draws.
Paddy Power (the spokesman, not the bookie) said he didn’t “use the term regularly but this truly is weapons grade punting”.
