1.  #GOWING: Welsh Police confirmed that the burnt-out car found near a disused quarry last night belongs to missing Irish woman Catherine Gowing. The 37-year-old Offaly native has not been seen since last Friday night.

2. #BAILOUT: German Chancellor Angela Merkel has firmly ruled out any prospect of the new permanent Eurozone bailout fund helping to recapitalise banks which have already received aid from their respective governments – including Ireland’s.

3. #QUINN: Sean Quinn Junior left the Four Courts with his wife Karen Woods this morning after the High Court heard his three-month sentence  in Mountjoy Prison for contempt of court had expired.

4. #YES: The first major opinion poll on the forthcoming children’s rights referendum shows 74 per cent of the Irish population are prepared to vote ‘Yes’ but many say they are still not up to speed on the question being asked.

5. #ABUSE: Police in London have opened a formal criminal investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against broadcaster Jimmy Savile. The Metropolitan Police said they have about 400 leads and more than 200 potential victims have been identified.
