GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EACH WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you should know before you head out the door.

1. #ASSISTED SUICIDE: A woman has been charged with assisting the suicide of another woman in Dublin in what is believed to be the first case of this kind in Ireland.

2. #PIG MEAT: Half of pig meat tested in Ireland is not Irish, according to the Irish Farmers Association, which said today that consumers “continue to be misled”.

3. #ACCOMMODATION: Desperate renters are accepting sub-standard accommodation as prices, particularly in Dublin, continue to rise. Standards in housing are failing to be met and many tenants face a raft of bad practices by landlords.

4. #THE TROUBLES: Northern Ireland Attorney General John Larkin has said he believes there should be no more police investigations, inquiries or prosecutions of any killings that occurred during the Troubles before the Good Friday Agreement.

5.#FRIENDS: Dublin is a more friendly student city than Tokyo, Barcelona and New York, according to a new survey, though the capital scored poorly on affordability.
