GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 stories, 5 minutes, 5 o’clock.

EACH WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you the five stories you need to know before you hit the road. If you’re travelling to get to loved one for Christmas, take it handy and arrive safely.

1. #TRAUMATIC: The family of a clinically dead woman who is 17 weeks pregnant will hear on St Stephen’s Day whether they will be allowed to switch off her life support.

Continuing to treat the woman was described as “experimental” and “grotesque” by doctors in the High Court yesterday, but today counsel for the unborn said it must be satisfied that there is “no possibility of survival before any act that would bring the life of an unborn to an end”.

2. #MISSOURI: Police have released CCTV footage capturing the last few moments before teenage Antonio Martin was shot dead by an officer last night. There are still conflicting accounts of how the shooting happened.

3. #SHOT DOWN: A Jordanian pilot has been captured by ISIS after his warplane from the US-led coalition was shot down over northern Syria.

4. #GOING PLACES: If you are going home today, you might need to know that public transport services is ending somewhat earlier tonight. See here.

5. #HOMECOMING: TheJournal.ie was at Dublin Airport to greet some of the returning folks – watch if you dare.
