HERE ARE THE five stories you need to know before you head out the door this evening.

1. #MURDER: A murder inquiry is underway in Co Cork after a post-mortem examination on a woman thought to have been killed in a fire revealed she had “died in violent circumstances”. Olivia Dunlea was thought to be out of the house when the fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning. A man in his 30s was arrested earlier today, and remains in custody.

2. #PROMISSORY NOTES: The president of the European Central Bank has said the ECB has not yet considered whether the deal to switch the promissory notes for government bonds – which required the liquidation of IBRC – was actually legal. Mario Draghi told MEPs that the ECB only considers the legality of possible ‘monetary financial operations’ once a year. Earlier, Germany’s central bank said the role of its Irish counterpart in the deal was “problematic”.

3. #BELGIUM: A Belgian court has ruled that one of the world’s most notorious paedophiles and serial killers must remain in jail, denying him a request for early release. Marc Dutroux had applied to be kept under house arrest instead of serving life in jail for crimes involving six girls between 1995 and 1996.

4. #LIKE: Facebook has evidently decided it Likes Dublin – it’s creating another 100 jobs at its European headquarters there. The roles – in data, developer relations, administration and sales – will bring the website’s Irish workforce to 500.

5. #SOUTH AFRICA: The family of Reeva Steenkamp, Oscar Pistorius’s girlfriend who the South African athlete is accused of killing, have spoken out demanding answers from Pistorius on how Reeva died. In a newspaper interview, Reeva’s mother June said: “Just like that she is gone… [...] In the blink of an eye and a single breath, the most beautiful person who ever lived is no longer here.”
