1. #INVESTIGATION: Two employees at a Dublin hospital have been suspended after an investigation by RTÉ’s Prime Time found that some senior staff had been given expensive gifts by a supplier, in breach of their terms of employment.

2. #SLAVE LABOUR SCANDAL: The Irish Independent reports that the South African embassy in Dublin has claimed diplomatic immunity at an employment appeal hearing over an ex-housekeeper’s allegation that a former diplomat paid her only €1.66 an hour.

3. #NOISE CONCERNS: A decision on planning permission for a Kerry mosque has been delayed over concerns about the impact a public call to prayer would have on neighbours.

4. #UNDETERMINED: The post mortem on a 17-year-girl who died in Letterkenny earlier this week has been unable to determine the cause of her death.

5. #BATMAN KILLER: An American jury has found James Holmes guilty of all 24 counts of murder for the 2012 Aurora cinema massacre in which 12 people died.

6. #HOMELESSNESS: The Herald reports that at least 17 pregnant women are currently homeless in Dublin.

7. #ISLAMIC STATE: A man arrested in Dublin on suspicion of being an Islamic State extremist planning to travel to Syria has now been released, according to The Irish Independent. The suspect is likely to be charged with offences not related to terrorism.

8. #HACKED: Meanwhile, the websites of three Dublin gyms have been targeted overnight by an Islamist hacking group.

9. #GLIMMER OF HOPE: Some parts of the country might be lucky enough to avoid the rain this weekend. Heavy downpours are expected along the Atlantic coast, but the north and south are likely to remain “mainly dry”.
