3. #JIHADISTS: The Defence Forces are monitoring two Irish men who have travelled to Syria and offered to fight and train alongside jihadist groups, according to this morning’s Sunday Times.
4. #HOSPITALS: Several Irish hospitals are refusing to treat new public patients, as their waiting lists have become unmanageable, according to the Sunday Business Post. The HSE is investigating the issue.
5. #MURDER: Two teenagers are among six people arrested over the death of a Chinese restaurant owner in Antrim this week. The 65-year-old victim was stabbed to death after his car was forced off the road.
6. #WOMEN: Enda Kenny’s ‘secret’ list of potential female general election candidates is causing ructions in Fine Gael. A number of people on the list have expressed their unease that that its existence was leaked.
7. #FIRE: Two homes were destroyed and a number of others evacuated after a fire at a Galway housing estate early this morning. There are no reports of any injuries.
8. #ARSON: Police in Germany are investigating an arson attack at a newspaper that reprinted Mohammed cartoons. The Hamburger Morgenpost had splashed three Charlie Hebdo cartoons on its front page after the massacre in Paris.
9. #ORANGE ALERT: Met Éireann has issued two ‘high winds’ alerts for the country. The more serious ‘orange’ warning applies for those on exposed western coasts. Gusts of over 110km are forecast over the next 24 hours.
