Here's why AC/DC's Aviva gig could be heard all over Dublin last night

They shook all of Dublin, all night long.

ROCK GIANTS AC/DC played the Aviva Stadium last night and they literally rocked the whole city.

The WHOLE CITY.

The legendary band were reportedly heard from Blackrock to Fairview

They were fierce noisy in fairness

But is it even possible for sound to travel that far?

Well, the (driving) distance between Clontarf and the Aviva is 9.7km, and it’s a 5.9km drive south to Blackrock, ie, both are pretty far away.

Surely their das were just playing it in the living room?

Well, it could all be down to the hot weather we’re having.

Matt Nicholl, a physicist at Queen’s University, told DailyEdge.ie that it could well have been the case, and that the high humidity and nature of AC/DC’s music may have been the perfect combination.

The simplest explanation is probably that high humidity and lack of wind helped the sound to travel further yesterday. Also, low-frequency sounds are absorbed by the air less strongly than high frequencies, allowing them to travel further. Classic-rock tends to be heavy on these low frequencies compared to other genres.

Humidity last night in Dublin was particularly high, which we’re sure you found that out when trying to sleep.

So it’s official. AC/DC rocked Dublin last night.

Just spare a thought for those who were actually there

RIP their hearing.
