EIGHT RISING GAA stars will have a chance to impress top Aussie rules clubs later this year.
Tyrone’s Conor McKenna is expected to be one of the main attractions when the European Legion takes on the Australian Institute of Sport in London on 12 April.
The annual game pits a European selection against a squad of Australia’s best U18s and opened the door for Sean Hurley and Daniel Flynn’s trials down under.
McKenna, 17, turned heads at the AFL Europe Combine held in Dublin last month where players were scored on speed, jump and fitness.
Flynn’s younger brother, Luke, has also been selected for the week-long training camp while Celbridge’s Paddy Brophy and Padraig Lucy of Kerry both return having featured in last year’s game.
Colin O’Riordan, who won All-Ireland minor medals with Tipperary in football in 2011 and hurling in 2012, Mayo’s Stephen Coen, Galway’s Peter Cooke and Ciaran O’Hanlon of Armagh have also been selected.
