Aidan Walsh thanks fans for support after injury, says he's ready for second test

The Cork midfielder suffered a bad knock on his knee in Cavan on Saturday.

AIDAN WALSH HAS revealed how his mobile phone was backed up with messages of concern after he was lifted off the pitch against Australia.

The Cork midfielder suffered a knee injury in Cavan but confirmed that he will be okay for this Saturday night’s second International Rules test at Croke Park.

The positive prognosis means he will also be fit for club football and hurling duty in the coming weeks with important ties in both codes on the horizon for the talented dual player.

“It was a bang that I got just below the knee, it will be grand with ice,” said twice All-Star Walsh. “I got a bang of a hurley before and then your man got his studs right down on top of it and it was throbbing and very painful. But it’s grand and looked worse than it was.

“There is a small bit of a lump that will go down. I should be alright for Saturday. It’s going to be a great occasion in Croke Park under lights and they are the games you want to be involved in so I will rest the next few days and should be fine.

“The phone was full of people texting and ringing me to see am I okay.”
Walsh believes it’s too early to claim overall victory for Ireland in the series despite the 22-point advantage.

“We met them last Thursday night and they were saying they only started playing with the round ball last Monday,” revealed Walsh. “So another week of playing with the round ball will see them improve even more and we will have to up it again.”
