Bohemians 1-0 Shamrock Rovers

AN EARLY DAVE Mulcahy goal was enough to see bottom side Bohs claim a much needed win over bitter rivals Shamrock Rovers in Dalymount Friday evening.

Captain Mulcahy pounced on a miss-hit shot from Luke Byrne on the edge of the area to fire home after just three minutes.

Rovers missed a chance to pull level just three minutes later when Danny Ledwith’s free-kick hit the upright.

With just over ten minutes to go, Rovers had another opportunity from another dead ball but Ronan Finn’s penalty hit the angle of the bar and post before the home side cleared.

The result moves Bohemians onto 21 points and off the foot of the table.

St. Patrick’s Athletic 1-0 Shelbourne

Leaders Pats grabbed all three points in the night’s other Dublin derby when Stephen Maher made the most of a Niall Burdon mistake in the Shelbourne goal just before half-time.

The loss, coupled with Bohs’ win means Shelbourne only avoid propping up the table on goal difference.

Dundalk 2-0 Sligo Rovers

Dundalk kept up their dogged pursuit of leaders’ Pats with a comfortable 2-0 win over Sligo at Oriel Park.

A Pat Hoban wonder strike in the first half and a Chris Shields effort in the second were enough to keep the Lillywhites just one point behind Pats in the race for the Airtricity League Premier Division.

Derry City 0-2 Drogheda United

Drogheda claimed all three points on the road to Derry City thanks to a couple of goals from Brennan brothers Gavin and Ryan. It’s a result which probably ends any slim title hopes the Brandywell faithful might have had.

Limerick 1-3 UCD

UCD eased their relegation worries with a 3-1 away win in Thomond Park through goals from Dean Clarke, David O’Connor and Cillian Morrison after Craig Curran had given the home side the lead with a second minute penalty.

Bray 1-2 Cork City

The late goals that blighted the early part of Cork’s season are starting to swing in their favour the last few weeks and this time it was an 80th minute Ciaran Kilduff strike that gave them all three points. Ismahil Akinade’s first half-header had earlier cancelled out Ian Turner’s sixth minute opener.
