Alan Brogan, Cluxton and O'Sullivan in running for Footballer of the Year award

Meanwhile, Michael Fennelly and Tommy Walsh are among the nominees for Hurler of the Year.

THE GAA AND GPA have announced the nominees for this year’s Player of the Year awards.

Dublin goalkeeper and International Rules skipper Stephen Cluxton gets a nod after his crucial, last-minute point in the final win over Kerry.

His team-mate Alan Brogan gets the nomination ahead of his brother Bernard – the current Footballer of the Year – after that Croke Park victory.

O’Sullivan, meanwhile, was an integral part of Kerry’s campaign, with his sublime backheel goal goal against Limerick representing one of the most memorable moments of this year’s Championship.

In addition, Kilkenny’s Michael Fennelly and Tommy Walsh are rewarded for the roles they played in their side’s All-Ireland triumph, receiving nods for Hurler of the Year.

They are joined on the shortlist by Tipperary’s Pádraic Maher.

The nominees were selected by the All-Star selection committee steering group and the overall winners will be chosen by inter-county players and announced at the banquet event at Convention Centre Dublin on Friday October 21.
