Ireland's Alan Judge makes Football League Team of the Season

Burnley’s Joey Barton and Andre Gray were also among the in-form players recognised.

IRELAND’S ALAN JUDGE has been recognised for his fine form this season by being named in the Football League Team of the Season.

Despite his club Brentford currently being in just 13th position in the Championship, the 27-year-old attacking midfielder has been a revelation, scoring 14 league goals and contributing 11 assists.

Judge’s fine form saw him rewarded with a series of Ireland squad call-ups, before he finally made his international debut in the friendly against Switzerland last month, though a recent season-ending injury he picked up means the star will miss Euro 2016.

Judge was also one of three players nominated for the Championship Player of the Year, though he missed out on that award, with Burnley’s Andre Gray — the league’s current top scorer with 24 goals — claiming the honour.

Football Manager Team of the Season: Adam Smith (Northampton Town); Bruno (Brighton & Hove Albion), Craig Morgan (Wigan Athletic), Daniel Ayala (Middlesbrough), George Friend (Middlesbrough); Alan Judge (Brentford), Bradley Dack (Gillingham), Joey Barton (Burnley); Kemar Roofe (Oxford United), Nicky Ajose (Swindon Town), Andre Gray (Burnley).

Manager: Chris Wilder (Northampton Town)
