Ireland's Annalise Murphy secures Laser Radial European title

The 23-year-old’s finishes of second, third and first in today’s final three races confirmed her triumph.

IRELAND’S ANNALISE MURPHY was this afternoon confirmed as the 2013 Laser Radial European champion.

The 23-year-old’s finishes of second, third and first in today’s final three races on Dublin Bay ensured she won the regatta in impressive fashion.

Murphy ultimately triumphed by a considerable margin of 17 points, ahead of Marit Bouwmeester of Holland and Britain’s Alison Young.

It completed a phenomenal run of eight wins out of ten starts overall for the Irish sailor.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Finn Lynch from Carlow took the 2013 U21 Men’s Laser Radial title.

He also secured bronze in the overall World Championship and silver in the European Championship.
