7 changes to Mayo football side as Moran, Cafferkey and McLoughlin return to action

Mayo take on IT Sligo in Charlestown this afternoon.

CAPTAIN ANDY MORAN returns to the Mayo starting side this afternoon as they take on IT Sligo in the FBD League in Charlestown at 2pm.

Moran is named at corner-forward with Ger Cafferkey and Kevin McLoughlin other established names drafted into a team that contains seven changes from Friday night’s opening win in this competition against NUI Galway.

Goalkeeper Brendan Walsh, midfielder Brian Gallagher and attacking pair Sean Kelly and Cathal Carolan also get the nod from manager James Horan on this occasion.

Robert Hennelly, Eoghan Reilly, John Reilly, Adam Gallagher, Diarmuid O’Connor, Tom King and Mickey Sweeney are the players to make way.

Mayo have plenty strength in reserve for this game. Their substitutes list contains seven players – Hennelly, Colm Boyle, Lee Keegan, Alan Freeman, Keith Higgins, Aidan O’Shea and Donal Vaughan – who started in last September’s All-Ireland final defeat to Dublin.

Boyle, Keegan, Higgins and O’Shea were all crowned 2013 Allstar winners last November as well.
