'Dublin in no rush to find the right person to replace Daly' - County Board chairman

Andy Kettle has hailed Daly’s six year tenure as senior hurling manager.

DUBLIN WILL TAKE their time to find a replacement for departing senior hurling manager Anthony Daly, according to County Board chairman Andy Kettle.

After six years at the helm, Daly stepped down from his position last night and has been praised by Kettle for the improvements he has brought about during that time.

“Anthony Daly was very good for Dublin hurling,” Kettle told Des Cahill on RTÉ Radio 1 this morning.

“He formed relationships, not only with me, but with other members of the county board and particularly with his panel.”

Names such as Liam Sheedy and Nicky English have been mentioned as possible candidates and Kettle insists they will take their time to with the search.

“I wouldn’t say there’s a rush (to get a new manager),” he added. ”Number one, we have to get the right person. There have been names speculated in the media this morning — it’s complete news to me.

“As far as Dublin County Board are concerned, we have a blank spot where the name of Anthony Daly sat as senior hurling manager.

The process is that we will approach some people and some people will obviously approach us. We will evaluate those candidates from out point of view who can do the best job for Dublin going forward.

“I would like to see it happen for the knockout stages of our local championship. That is a reasonably tight timeline but if it doesn’t happen, it’s not the end of the world.”
