AFTER MUCH SPECULATION about his future, Dublin hurling boss Anthony Daly has been re-appointed for the 2014 season.
Despite leading the Dubs to their first Leinster hurling title in 52 years, Daly had refused to confirm his commitment to the team in the wake of their defeat to Cork in this year’s All-Ireland hurling semi final.
Speaking to TheScore.ie last month, Ryan O’Dwyer said he and other senior members of the Dublin panel fully expected Daly to stay and take care of “unfinished business” in 2014.
“I can safely speak for the panel that every one of us want him and the management team as a whole,” said O’Dwyer.
And this evening the players got their wish as the county board confirmed the 43-year old would continue in the position he has held for five years.
A short statement from John Costello, secretary of Dublin GAA, said:
“The Dublin County Committee, this evening, reappointed Anthony Daly as Manager of the Dublin Senior Hurling Team for the 2014 season. This will be Anthony’s sixth season as team manager having being appointed initially in November 2008.”
