BALLYBODEN ST ENDA’S have appointed former All-Star Anthony Rainbow as the new manager of the senior football team.
Ballyboden, who lifted the All-Ireland club title in 2016, confirmed to The42 that Rainbow will take charge of the club for the 2018 season.
Rainbow enjoyed a stellar 19-year career with the Lilywhites, winning two Leinster titles as well as featuring in the 1998 All-Ireland final where they lost to Galway.
Since his retirement in 2010, the Suncroft man managed Carlow for two years, while he was involved in the Sarsfields backroom team during their Kildare SFC-winning seasons in 2015 and 2016.
Rainbow replaces John O’Brien, who stepped down as manager in September. Shane Brooks took temporary charge of the team after O’Brien left and led them to the senior ‘B’ championship title this year.
Ballyboden, winners of the Dublin SFC title in 2015, were dumped out of the championship in the first round by St Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruadh in April.
He takes over a talented side featuring Michael Darragh Macauley, Robbie McDaid, Darragh Nelson, Shane Clayton, Conal Keaney, plus Basquel brothers Ryan and Colm.
