Tourists targeted with new Shannon - Bristol route

The flights will take off at 11.10am, seven days a week.

WANT TO HEAD to Bristol? You can now take a trip to the south west of England thanks to Aer Lingus Regional.

It has just launched a new route to Bristol from Shannon, which will involve seven flights per week at 11.10am.

The airline has also announced an expanded service on Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester routes.

Growth plan

The new Shannon – Bristol route has been announced as part of the airline’s growth plan to increase its passenger numbers to two million by 2016.

Aer Lingus Regional aims to fly up to 20,000 passengers on the route in the first year of operation and 35,000 passengers in 2015. It’s also due to expand its routes to Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester today.

Stobart Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Fagan said this new route “has enormous potential in terms of boosting tourist activity and enhancing business connections between the West of Ireland and South West England”.

He said that the route has boundless potential, particularly because of how near the two airports are to popular tourist sights.

Neil Pakey, Managing Director at Shannon International Airport, said that the Shannon-Bristol route provides enormous potential for Shannon, as the region looks to strengthen its ties with key business hubs in the UK.

There was a 32 per cent rise in Aer Lingus Regional passenger numbers in 2013.
