Like a fine wine: Robben shows class with screamer to open scoring against Arsenal

There was no stopping the Dutch winger’s 11th-minute effort.

ARJEN ROBBEN HAS been terrorising defences for 17 years in professional football but the 33-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Dutch winger began tonight’s Champions League last 16 clash against Arsenal in stunning fashion, opening the scoring in the 11th minute with a beautiful left-foot strike into David Ospina’s top right corner.

It was a trademark cut inside from the right by the former Chelsea man as the German giants made an ideal start to the first leg of the tie.

However, you’d imagine Arsene Wenger will have plenty to say about the poor defending, particularly by Francis Coquelin, which gave Robben to room to produce the goods.

Arsenal, to their credit, managed to level matters on the half-hour mark at the Allianz Arena, Alexis Sanchez tucking away the rebound, at the second time of asking, after his penalty had initially been saved by Manuel Neuer.
