Antrim left to rue indiscipline as late penalty seals win for Fermanagh

Liam Bradley’s charges were always up against it after Sean McVeigh saw red in the first-half.

Fermanagh 1-13

Antrim 0-8

FERMANAGH ADVANCED TO the Ulster senior football championship semi-finals on Sunday with an eight-point victory over Antrim at Brewster Park.

Peter McGrath’s men will now face Monaghan in the last four on 21 June but they were made to work for their win by 14-man Antrim.

Sean Quigley scored a late penalty to seal the deal after Antrim had showed spirit to stay in the contest after Sean McVeigh saw red in the 31st minutes.

Fermanagh, who have yet to win a senior provincial crown, led by two after an hour and pulled away in the final stages with six unanswered points, including Quigley’s strike.

The other quarter-finals in Ulster see Derry face Down and Armagh host Donegal while Monaghan edged past Cavan last week.
