Seven armed men arrested after Gardaí stop van

The men’s ages ranged from early twenties to mid fifties.

SEVEN MEN HAVE been arrested after the Gardaí pulled over the van they were travelling in.

The arrests were carried out by the newly amalgamated Organised Crime Unit and Garda National Drug Unit.

This happened at approximately 1.15pm today when Gardaí stopped the van on Rosemount Avenue in the Artane area of Dublin. 

A firearm and other offensive weapons were discovered in the vehicle the men were travelling in.

No shots were fired during the arrest and no one was injured.

Three men were arrested at the scene, another three were arrested in a car near by and a seventh man was arrested a short distance away.

The men’s ages range from early twenties to mid fifties.

The men are currently being detained at Coolock, Ballymun, Clontarf and Raheny Garda Stations. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
