Australian Open weather: good for photography, not great for tennis

The extreme heat in Melbourne forced organisers to suspend the tournament for several hours on Thursday.

RECORD TEMPERATURES IN Melbourne are playing havoc with the Australian Open.

Organisers were forced to suspend the tournament for several hours on Thursday afternoon as temperatures topped 42°C.

When play resumed a few hours later, players were soaked by a sudden downpour.

It’s far from ideal but at least it makes for some good photos, like this shot caught by Shuji Kajiyama.
