Back in the red: Mulligan returns to Tyrone fold

Cookstown man has been persuaded to re-join the panel ahead of Armagh showdown.

LAST WEEK HE threw his hat at it, but last night Owen Mulligan trained with the Tyrone footballers.

The All-Ireland winning forward left the panel after reportedly growing frustrated with his limited role during the championship.

Tyrone are currently preparing for a third-round qualifier against provincial rivals Armagh on Saturday night.

Mulligan has not been able to seal a starting place this year, with manager Mickey Harte utilising him as an impact sub.

He came on as a second-half sub in both wins over Monaghan and Longford though he started in the defeat to Donegal.

The GAA reports that Harte and skipper Brian Dooher persuaded the Cookstown man to give it another go. Importantly, Stephen O’Neill will not feature against the Orchard after picking up an injury.
