Bad news, Spurs fans; Luka Modric is eyeing the door again

The Croatia midfielder will make a decision after the European Championships, he says.

TOTTENHAM STAR Luka Modric has hinted his career at White Hart Lane could be over, delaying a decision on his future until after Euro 2012.

The 26-year-old was strongly linked with a move to London rivals Chelsea at the end of last season, though Spurs resisted the temptation of a reported bid of 30 million pounds.

With Croatian Modric set to jet off to Poland and Ukraine for Euro 2012, the former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is ready to end his Tottenham career.

“I will decide about my future after the Euros,” Modric told reporters. ”I will make the decision where to continue my career. I’m ready for the big tests.”

Much of the midfielder’s decision could hinge on whether Tottenham qualify for the Champions League next season. Having finished fourth in the Premier League for the second time in three seasons, the north London club now face a nail-biting wait to see whether they have done enough to secure a place in Europe’s premier club competition.

A win in the Champions League final for one of Modric’s potential suitors, Chelsea, would see Harry Redknapp’s men miss out on a spot, which could potentially be the catalyst for Modric’s departure.
