BlackBerry users consider switching brands

The smartphone company experienced a number of outages this week, which frustrated many customers. Now a survey says some have already bought new phones – and others are thinking of moving from BlackBerry.

A NEW SURVEY has said that 19 per cent of BlackBerry users would consider moving to another mobile phone manufacturer after this week’s meltdown.

The Telegraph reports that out of 1000 people, 19 per cent are thinking of moving; 42 per cent will consider changing later – and 8 per cent have already bought a new mobile phone.

Millions of BlackBerry users were hit by service outages on a number of days this week.

The outage affected the smartphone users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

On Tuesday, BlackBerry manufacturer RIM said the problems had been fixed – but then more outages occurred.

It said its technical teams were working to return services to normal operation as quickly as possible, and by yesterday, there was a ‘significant improvement’ in its service.

RIM said yesterday it is monitoring the situation 24/7 to ensure ongoing stability and thanked its customers for their patience.

There is no word yet on whether customers will receive compensation.
