This is how you can block calls on your smartphone

Don’t worry, we won’t judge.

SOMETIMES YOU WILL get unwanted phone calls from someone, whether it’s a telemarketer or just someone who won’t leave you alone for whatever reason.

Whatever the purpose, you can at least block certain numbers (or direct them to voicemail) from your phone so you’re not disturbed by them.

iOS

When you’re in the Phone app, go into recents (or contacts if you have the number saved) and hit the ‘info’ button at the end of the contact you want blocked. When you’re in settings, scroll down until you see ‘Block this Caller’.

Android

The problem with Android is since there are numerous versions of it out there, it means there won’t be the same level of consistency and even with the latest update rolling out, that may stay the same.

The closest thing you have to blocking calls on Lollipop is to forward a number to voicemail instead of blocking it outright.

To do this, you need to have the number saved into contacts. When that’s done, select it in contacts and go into the edit section. Hit the further options section at the top right-hand corner and tick the voicemail box.

Alternatively, you can download a third-party app like Call Blocker to prevent certain numbers from contacting you, or delve into call settings to see if the option exists.

Windows Phone

For one, you have to activate blocked calls on your phone which is easily done. When you’re in the phone app, bring up settings and you will see blocked calls as the last option.

When you have that activated, long-press any number in call history and the block option will appear.
