'Arry's Transfer Window: Bony edges closer to City and Defoe is back in the UK

Plus, could it be one in, one out at Anfield?

THE JANUARY TRANSFER window has been open as of midnight on Saturday, and who better to guide us through the latest wheelin’ and dealin’s than ‘Arry himself.

Just don’t use the words wheelin’ or dealin’, alright?

Cut-price Bony: Manchester City are edging closer to signing Wilfried Bony as the BBC report that a fee of £27 million is set to be agreed between the Premier League champions and Swansea. Bony is en-route to the African Cup of Nations but his agent indicated last night that a deal is on the verge of being completed.

Boy Hunt: After his contract at Leeds was terminated, Republic of Ireland international Noel Hunt is set to make his loan move to Ipswich permanent. A local newspaper are reporting the club will officially announce the deal on Friday.

Inter raid: After luring Lukas Podolski to the San Siro, Roberto Mancini is planning on swooping for Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva in this transfer window. The Brazilian signed a ‘long-term’ deal with the Reds back in April 2013 but Mancini sees him as an ideal candidate to bolster Inter’s engine room.

Boring Milner: Liverpool hope to lure James Milner away from Man City as the midfielder delays signing a new deal at Eastlands. Milner wants assurances of his role at City and Brendan Rodgers has pinpointed the industrious England international as his primary transfer target.

Defoe back in the UK: Tottenham have confirmed former striker Jermain Defoe is back at the club…to train. The England international will train with the club’s Development Squad for the next two weeks to maintain fitness ahead of the new MLS season. Defoe has been linked with a loan move to a number of top-flight clubs with Liverpool among those interested.

The US Drog: Didier Drogba could be set to follow Steven Gerrard to the MLS in the summer after the owner of the Portland Timbers admitted the club are interested in signing the striker. Drogba has previously revealed he would like to play in America and his contract at Chelsea expires at the end of the season. Keep an eye on this one.

Suarez return: Amid the growing storm at Barcelona, several outlets are reporting Luis Suarez could be in line for an extraordinary return to the Premier League. United, City and Chelsea have all been put on red alert as chaos engulfs the Spanish giants. Double swoop for Messi and Suarez, anyone?
