The managerial great and attacking great are watching on in Tullamore this afternoon.

THERE IS A familiar face back on the sideline for Kilkenny this afternoon.

After undergoing pre-planned heart surgery in April, Brian Cody has not been involved in the Kilkenny ranks.

But he’s back patrolling the sideline this afternoon for the first time since that break as the Cats face Offaly in the Leinster senior hurling championship in Tullamore.

Shefflin

Another man who is on the sideline instead of his customary role on the pitch is Henry Shefflin.

For the first time since his debut in June 1999, Shefflin is not starting a senior hurling championship game for Kilkenny as he continues his recovery from injury.

Ballyhale Shamrocks club mate Michael Fennelly is also ruled out through injury and is watching on this afternoon.
