“TWO MINUTES IN heaven is better than one minute in heaven.” — Flight of the Conchords, Business Time.
In the end, Leinster supporters got eight minutes of Brian O’Driscoll before their favourite son limped off with a calf injury. His teammates rallied from his early loss and a 6-0 deficit to beat Glasgow Warriors 34-12 and retain the RaboDirect Pro12 title.
O’Driscoll was interviewed on TV after the game but was a strange no-show at the post-match briefing. Apparently, he did not want to deflect from the other 22 players than had a hand in securing silverware for the the sixth time in seven seasons.
It was left to Leinster head coach Matt O’Connor to field questions on O’Driscoll’s injury. “I don’t even know, I don’t care. He’s not playing again, move on,” remarked the Australian. He added, “‘He won’t miss any more games, the injury isn’t that significant.”
