Boston-bound flight diverts back to Shannon due to "suspected technical problem"

The plane was out over the Atlantic when a decision was made turn it around.

Updated at 9.20pm

A BRITISH AIRWAYS passenger jet bound for Boston made an unscheduled landing at Shannon Airport this evening after an apparent technical issue arose on board.

BA Flight 215 took off from London Heathrow at 5.01pm this evening.

It was out over the Atlantic when a decision was made to head back to land.

“The flight diverted to Shannon purely as a precaution, due to a suspected technical problem,” a BA spokesperson said.

“Engineers have checked the aircraft and there is no problem.”

The 777 touched down shortly after 7pm this evening, and checks took place while passengers remained on board.

It’s since taken off again.
