Take 4: Homes for every budget around Ireland

Here is our pick of properties from €250,000… up to €1 million.

GETTING INTO THE property market can be a daunting experience. Here we try and make it a bit easier – and bring you four of the best properties on the market around the country this week.

Under €250,000

Smithfield, Dublin city centre – €250,000

This area of Dublin has long been a hub of activity – with its use as a marketplace dating back to the 17th century. This tradition continues today – with craft fairs and outdoor food markets behind held here frequently.

The apartment on sale here is located in Smithfield Village and sits in the upper end of the price bracket. The corner property comes with its own wrap around balcony overlooking the main square and is a walking distance from central Dublin – with the Smithfield Luas stop on its doorstep.

Under €500,000

Dunboyne, Co Meath – €375,000

The local area around this newly-built property has an interesting relationship with conflicts in Ireland dating back two centuries. It played a prominent role in both the Irish Rebellion of 1798 and also the War of Independence.

This particular house states that it is part of a movement back towards “larger, more traditional style of housing” that has been neglected in recent times. The four-bedroom home boasts that all internal features have been finished to the highest standard.

Under €750,000

Menlo, Co Galway – €675,000

This property has an odd name for its location in the west of Ireland. As far as we can tell ‘Via Castilla’ roughly means ‘Castle Way’ when translated from Spanish. It is unclear what marks this home as being uniquely Iberian – although its description state that the home’s grandeur makes it ‘distinguishable from the ordinary’.

Spaced out over 4,000 sq. ft. – this generously proportioned home has 0.65 acres of its own grounds and yet is only 10 minutes away from Galway city centre. The home has a annexed chalet to the rear which is currently being rented and provides additional income to the owners.

Under €1 million

Sunday’s Well, Co Cork – €975,000

Sunday’s Well is a suburb on the north-west edge of Cork city, close to the River Lee. The affluent residential area has its own Boating and Tennis Club and is home to Cork City Gaol. This is not an active prison but rather a heritage centre that describes itself as “one of the best Cork visitor attractions”.

This home is said to be a “fine period property” and sits atop of a hill looking out over its own garden. It has four bedrooms and is said to have been “meticulously and sympathetically refurbished” throughout.
