The real Cafu sends a shoutout to the 'Red Cafu', Jon Flanagan

Unfortunately Dani Alves was unavailable for comment on Flani Alves’s latest performance…

LOCAL LAD JON Flanagan has quickly become a fan favourite around Anfield, so much so that Liverpool fans have nicknamed their young full-back the ‘Red Cafu’.

Flanagan, 21, impressed again as the Reds moved to the top of the Premier League with an emphatic 4-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday — and the real Cafu was watching.

The legendary Brazilian took to Twitter and wrote: “Good to see the RedCafu is playing well! Liverpool amazing to watch!”

Yesterday’s win, coupled with dropped points for Chelsea and Manchester City on Saturday, has put the title race in Liverpool’s control with six games to play.

Cafu stopped short of endorsing Brendan Rodgers’ side for the title though, sitting on the fence instead.

“Can Liverpool win the league? I think maybe…

“Chelsea are very strong but in a storm right now. City have a big squad.”
