All Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Round 1

Dublin v Kilkenny (John Dolan) O’Toole Park,Crumlin, 1.00
A tough opening round encounter for Kilkenny who will have nothing easy against the Blues. Kilkenny scraped by them earlier in the league by a solitary point and with Dublin stalwarts such as Louise O’Hara and Elaine O’Meara (captain) in excellent form, Dublin may have the goods to get their campaign off to a winning start.
Verdict: Dublin

Clare v Cork (Alan Lagrue) Newmarket on Fergus, 1.30
Clare defeated arch rivals Cork in a thrilling Munster Camogie Final a few weeks ago, and the significance of that event, will add extra bite to this opening round tie. Clare will prove difficult to beat at home and the form of Deirdre Murphy and Susan Vaughan, will be key to their prospects. Cork will rely on Anna Geary, Jennifer O’Leary and of course Gemma O’Connor to guide them through.
Verdict: Clare

Offaly v Galway (Aiden O Brien) Banagher (Highlights on The Sunday Game) 2.30
Galway launch their championship bid with an away trip to Offaly, who are without the services of star centre back Michaela Morkan (travelling). John Troy’s side will hope that Elaine Dermody can lead the attack. However, the Leinster side face a stiff test as Galway boast a strong and experienced outfit with Brenda Hanney, Tara Ruttledge and Orla Kilkenny.
Verdict: Galway

Tipperary v Wexford (Cathal Egan) The Ragg, 3.15
The All Ireland champions face a young Tipperary side who will fancy their chances against the holders. Tipperary will be looking to All Star midfielder Jill Horan and Joanne Ryan to pull the strings. Wexford, under JJ Doyle, boast a clean bill of health and welcome Una Leacy back to attack, following a recent knee injury.
Verdict: Wexford
