The discovery was made at a house in Granard yesterday.

FOUR MEN ARE due in court in Longford this morning after gardaí seized over €100,000 worth of cannabis plants and herb.

Yesterday gardaí discovered 118 cannabis plants with an approximate street value of €94,000 and one kilo of cannabis herb worth an estimated €20,000.

Four men – aged 28, 29, 33 & 33 – were arrested and brought to Roscommon, Longford and Granard Garda stations where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

All four were charged in connection with the seizure and will appear before Longford District Court this morning.

Ongoing operation

The drugs were uncovered at a house in Dalystown, Granard as part of an ongoing operation into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Longford area.

Gardaí from the Roscommon-Longford Drug unit assisted by gardaí from Granard in the serach.

A Garda spokesperson said these type of operations “use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks”.

“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.”
