Woodwork and wonder save ensure Cardiff v Villa ends in stalemate

David Marshall’s late stop prevented Andreas Weimann from securing all three points.

ASTON VILLA TRAVEL back across the Severn tonight with a point after playing out a stalemate away to Cardiff.

Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his goalkeeper David Marshall to thank for the point as the ex Celtic man pulled off a brilliant save to deny Andreas Weimann in the dying minutes.

Paul Lambert’s side, six points above the Welsh club, also flirted with defeat as both Fraizer Campbell and Craig Noone rattled the woodwork in the first half.
