Art of showboating takes another hefty blow after this Carlin Isles clanger

The American dropped the ball under the posts to deny what would have been a superb club rugby score.

AMERICAN RUGBY SPEEDSTER Carlin Isles has been signed up by Glasgow Warriors for the remainder of the Pro12 season but he will need to work out some try-scoring kinks very soon.

The winger, who has represented his country in Sevens rugby, got a run-out for Ayr again Harwick [Stuart Hogg's club side] on Saturday and proved impossible to shackle. Isles burst through the Harwick defence at one stage and beat three men on his way to what would have been an impressive score.

Isles’ showboating nature took over, however, and, after switching from a left-handed solo clutch, transferred to his right before spilling the ball under the posts.

The clanger came 24 hours before Kosuke Hashino’s swan dive abhorrence in the Hong Kong Sevens but is one Isles will not be eager to relieve.
