Who would triumph in today’s decider at Páirc Uí Chaoimh?

It was the reigning champions Castlehaven against 2010 winners Nemo Rangers in today’s Cork decider.

Hello and welcome to Páirc Uí Chaoimh  for this afternoon’s Cork senior football final between Castlehaven and Nemo Rangers.

The teams are both out warming up on the pitch at the moment. Throw in is at 3.45pm.

Here’s the Castlehaven team that is named to start this afternoon:

There’s plenty big names in action today with Barry O’Driscoll, Paul Kerrigan, Damien Cahalane, Brian Hurley and Mark Collins all having been part of the Cork senior football squad this year.

The Cork All-Ireland winning team of 1973 have just been introduced to the crowd here. Big cheer for Billy Morgan, an even bigger one for Jimmy Barry-Murphy.

Late changes on both sides with James Masters replacing Luke Connolly on the Nemo Rangers side while Eoin Dennehy is in for James Davis in the Castlehaven attack.

Nemo Rangers are chasing their 19th senior title today, having last won in 2010. Castlehaven are the reigning champions after beating Duhallow in last year’s decider. They have four crowns to their name.

They’re two of the biggest names in Cork club football but today will be the first time that Castlehaven and Nemo Rangers meet in a county senior decider.

They did meet in the first round of this year’s championship though. It finished Nemo Rangers 1-13 Castlehaven 0-16 after extra-time in their first game before Castlehaven won the replay by 4-10 to 1-12.

Nemo Rangers then came through the backdoor to beat St Nicholas, O’Donovan Rossa, Douglas and Bishopstown.

Castlehaven defeated Newcestown, St Vincent’s and Carbery on route to this stage.

The pre match parade is under way as we count down to throw-in here.

Castlehaven are managed by Finbarr Santry with Niall Cahalane a well known figure amongst their back room team.

Nemo Rangers are managed by former Cork senior Stephen O’Brien with Colin Corkery one of his selectors.

The referee here is Conor Lane from the Banteer club.

Castlehaven 0-1 Nemo Rangers 0-1: 4 mins – Nemo fight back with a quality point registered by James Masters off his left.

Nemo Rangers 0-2 Castlehaven 0-1: 5 mins – Paul Kerrigan points a free after Peter Morgan was fouled.

Nemo Rangers 0-3 Castlehaven 0-1: 6 mins – James Masters stretches Nemo’s lead with a pointed free.

Nemo Rangers 0-4 Castlehaven 0-1: 7 mins – Blistering pace by Paul Kerrigan takes him away from the Castlehaven defence and he fists over a point after coming in from the right wing.

Nemo Rangers 0-4 Castlehaven 0-2: 8 mins – Stunning long range point from Castlehaven defender Chris Hayes.

Nemo Rangers 0-5 Castlehaven 0-2: 9 mins – That Hayes score is cancelled out by a quality effort from James Masters.

Nemo Rangers 0-5 Castlehaven 0-3: 12 mins – Another great point is put on the board, this time from the left foot of Brian Hurley. Really good start to this match.

Nemo Rangers 0-5 Castlehaven 0-4: 13 mins – Brian Hurley taps over a free after he was fouled himself by Sean McKeown of Nemo Rangers.

Yellow card for Nemo’s Brian O’Regan for a high tackle on Castlehaven’s Chris Hayes.

Castlehaven 0-5 Nemo Rangers 0-5: 15 mins – And Brian Hurley despatches the ball over the bar from the resultant free.

Great pace to this game so far with 15 minutes gone and we’ve witnessed ten points being put on the board.

Castlehaven 0-6 Nemo Rangers 0-5: 16 mins – Castlehaven edge ahead courtesy of a brilliant point by Shane Nolan after he was fed by Brian Hurley.

Castlehaven 0-6 Nemo Rangers 0-6: 19 mins – Draw game again after Kerrigan converts the free for Nemo.

Castlehaven 0-7 Nemo Rangers 0-6: 20 mins – Castlehaven quickly go back in front after a fine point from Stephen Hurley.

Goal chance for Nemo but Barry O’Driscoll’s piledriver is blocked away for a ’45 by Castlehaven goalkeeper Paudie Hurley.

Castlehaven 0-7 Nemo Rangers 0-7: 21 mins – Kerrigan slots over the ’45 and we’re level again.

Big drama as Mark Collins blast in a shot for Castlehaven that comes crashing off the bar.

Nemo Rangers 0-8 Castlehaven 0-7: 23 mins – Nemo Rangers edge in front through a Barry O’Driscoll free after Kerrigan was fouled.

Paul Kerrigan tries an outside of the boot effort from the right wing but the ball tails wide.

Brian Hurley spurn the chance to point a free for Castlehaven.

Stephen Cronin, this year’s Cork minor captain, is in for Nemo Rangers. He replaces Sean McKeown in defence, a sign there of the trouble Brian Hurley is causing.

Nemo Rangers 1-8 Castlehaven 0-7: 27 mins – Big moment in the game as Alan Cronin Snr, the ex-Cork player, expertly finishes to the net after being fed by a Dylan Mehigan delivery.

Lovely finish by Cronin as he got free of the Castlehaven inside defence.

Nemo Rangers 1-8 Castlehaven 0-9: 28 mins – Castlehaven fight back with a brace of points from Brian Hurley, one from play and one from a free.

That’s six points so far in this game for Hurley.

Nemo Rangers 1-8 Castlehaven 0-10: 31 mins – Hurley is fouled again by the Nemo defence, dusts himself down and points the free.

Alan Cronin’s goal separates the teams after a cracking first-half of football. Both sides serving up really good stuff here in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Brian Hurley has kicked 0-7 for Castlehaven, Paul Kerrigan (0-4) and James Masters (0-3) for Nemo.

James Masters hoofs in a point shot for Nemo but the balls falls short into the arms of Castlehaven goalkeeper  Paudie Hurley.

Now Castlehaven are making a change with Eoin Dennehy coming off and Michael Hurley coming on. Hurley was a Cork minor this year and he joins his older brothers Brian and Stephen in the Castlehaven attack.

We’re level again and excitement is building here amongst the crowd.

Castlehaven 0-13 Nemo Rangers 1-9: 44 mins – Marvellous stuff again from Brian Hurley. He clips over a point from play off his left. Nemo Rangers can’t handle him at the moment.

Castlehaven 0-15 Nemo Rangers 1-9: 46 mins – Castlehaven starting to take control. Brian Hurley converts a free and then he sets up Seanie Cahalane to score from play.

Setback for Nemo Rangers as Barry O’Driscoll misses a free from 20 yards out. They could have done with a point there.

And then Alan Cronin senior is off target with a point attempt for Nemo from play.

Castlehaven substitution sees Shane Nolan being replaced by Dan Hegarty.

Another chance from a free for Nemo but again Barry O’Driscoll kicks it wide.

There was late drama when Michael Dorgan fired in a goal bound shot for Nemo after a pass from Barry O’Driscoll. But the ball was deflected out for a ’45 and with the two minutes of injury-time having elapsed, the referee blew the full time whistle.

A deserved win for Castlehaven as they retain their title and will now go forward to represent Cork in the Munster senior club football championship.
