Cavan Board receives Johnston's transfer request

The footballer has lodged an application asking to be permitted a move to St Kevin’s in Kildare.

THE LATEST DEVELOPMENT in the Seanie Johnston saga has seen the player lodge a formal request with the Cavan County Board seeking permission to join a club in Kildare.

Johnston is looking to play inter-county football with the Lilywhites this year having been told by Cavan manager Val Andrews that he would have no part to play.

In order to make himself eligible for Kieran McGeeney’s panel, the talented forward will need to move from his current club Cavan Gaels and the 27-year-old has asked for a switch to St Kevin’s in Staplestown, Kildare.

Cavan’s County Board must now discuss the request and if there are no objections, Johnston will be able to join up with his new team. However, if it is contested, the application will go to the Central Competition Controls Committee for reviewing.
