BEING A TOP-CLASS athlete is hard work; being a husband-wife Olympic double act with a family to take care of as well must verge on the impossible. Welcome to another day in the lives of Rob and Marian Heffernan.

With just eight days to go until London 2012, Rob is making the final preparations for his fourth Olympics where he’ll compete in the 50km race walk as well the 20km where he hopes to go a few places better than his eighth-place finish in Beijing. At the same time, Marian is preparing for her first games as part of Ireland’s 4x400m relay team.

Earlier this week, the couple popped into TV3′s Ireland AM to talk caves, kids and Italia 90 as they count down the days to the biggest stage of all. Watch it here:
