CELTIC BEAT A second-string Shamrock Rovers 9-0 in a friendly at Tallaght Stadium today.
After progressing at the expense of Stjarnan following a 2-0 aggregate win on Thursday in the Europa League, the Irish side made 11 changes to their team for today’s game.
Celtic, by contrast, fielded a strong side, as they intensity their preparations for the new Scottish Premiership season, with Scott Brown, Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele among the starters for this afternoon’s match.
Goals from Mikael Lustig, Stuart Armstrong, Dembele and Scott Sinclair gave the reigning Scottish champions a 4-0 half-time lead.
James Forrest, Dembele, Armstrong, Ireland international Jonny Hayes and Tom Rogic continued the scoring after the break, as Celtic emerged with an emphatic 9-0 win.

Meanwhile, in today’s other friendly featuring an Irish and British club, Ipswich overcame Drogheda 5-0.
Bret Pittman, Freddie Sears (2), Kieffer Moore and Joe Garner were on target, as Mick McCarthy’s side outclassed their League of Ireland opponents.
Like Rovers, Drogheda also fielded an under-strength side, following their 2-0 Premier Division loss to Finn Harps on Friday night.
