Europa League wrap: Celtic joint top after downing Zagreb, Tottenham held

CELTIC ARE JOINT top of Group D in the Europa League tonight, after Kris Commons scored in the fifth minute to edge Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 in Glasgow.

Holders Sevilla came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Rijeka in Croatia in Group G, Liverpool loanee Iago Aspas getting one back before Stephane Mbia’s stoppage-time equaliser.

Napoli won 2-0 at Slovan Bratislava in Group I thanks to goals from Marek Hamsik and Gonzalo Higuain, while fellow Serie A side Fiorentina beat Dinamo Minsk 3-0 in Belarus.

Tottenham were ahead against Besiktas thanks to Harry Kane’s 27th-minute strike at White Hart Lane.

But the Turks grabbed a deserved point one minute from time when former Chelsea and Newcastle striker Ba converted a penalty awarded after Vlad Chiriches had handled.

Asteras Tripolis beat Partizan Belgrade 2-0 to take top spot in Group C.

“It’s great to get on the scoresheet but we wanted to come away with a win and to concede that late goal is very disappointing,” said Kane.

Italian giants Inter Milan have a perfect record of two wins in two games after a 2-0 win over Qarabag which put them top of Group F.
