Charlie Hebdo will publish 1,000,000 copies of its magazine next week

The publication will be supported by other French media outlets.

A LAWYER FOR Charlie Hebdo has confirmed that one million copies of the magazine will be published next week.

Normal weekly circulation is thought to be about 45,000.

Speaking to Le Monde, Richard Malka said the publication will go on sale on Wednesday.  It will be eight pages long, instead of the usual 16.

“We’re still in shock,” he said. “But what is important is our decision to publish the next Charlie”.

He added that there was still “some energy to think about the future”.

The lawyer also said the edition will honour those who died and that “this is what Charb [editor, Stéphane Charbonnier] wanted”.

Other media outlets and journalists are helping the satirical magazine to continue by offering both financial and editorial assistance.

A joint letter from Groupe Le Monde (which owns Le Monde), Radio France and France Televisions was tweeted by a top editor yesterday.

It details the offer of equipment and staff and asks for other media organisations to do the same.

A columnist for the magazine, Patrick Pelloux, also vowed that the magazine will continue in a powerful interview with iTele.

A doctor, he was close to the offices when the gunmen attacked and was called to help the victims.

In the interview, powerful even if you don’t speak the language, he describes the men and women killed as “extraordinary”.
