IRELAND’S CILLIAN SHERIDAN rounded off an emphatic win for APOEL Nicosia with a brilliant goal as the Cypriot club ran out 4 – 0 winners over Aalborg to cement their place in the Champions League proper.
The win, coupled with (Sheridan’s former club) Celtic’s loss, means the Bailieborough man will be Ireland’s only representative in Europe’s premier club competition this season.
APOEL came in to tonight’s second leg with an away goal but level on aggregate with the Danish side, but Vincius’ 29th minute goal put them in the driving seat.
Tomas De Vincenti doubled the lead before half-time and Stathis Aloneftis was also on target before Sheridan completed the rout with a superb 75th minute volley.
