Allianz Hurling League: Full-time round-up

Here’s a round-up of the results from today’s clashes.

A LAST-GASP point by Jake Dillon clinched a 2-15 to 1-17 victory for Waterford against Clare in their Division 1A clash in Ennis.

Waterford had got off to a splendid start with the experienced Seamus Prendergast finding the net in the 16th minute before Dillon raised a green flag three minutes later.

That propelled them into a 2-3 to 0-3 lead but Clare bounced back with Tony Kelly striking to the net and Colin Ryan’s point-taking helped keep them in touch as the Banner only trailed 2-5 to 1-7 at the interval.

In a tightly-contested second-half, Kelly and Ryan shone in the scoring stakes for Clare but it was Dillon who lead the way for Waterford in ultimately inspiring them to victory.

Elsewhere in Division 1A, Kilkenny travelled to Pearse Stadium to face Galway and you can see how that game unfolded here.

Meanwhile in Division 1B, Limerick staged a second-half comeback to defeat Antrim by 1-19 to 0-19 in the Gaelic Grounds

The teams were tied at 0-3 apiece after 10 minutes but Neil McManus’s marksmanship helped Antrim go 0-13 to 0-8 clear at half-time. However a goal by substitute David Breen and the excellent point-taking of Declan Hannon helped John Allen’s side triumph.

Elsewhere in Division 1B, it was Wexford who defeated a 13-man Carlow side by 2-15 to 0-16 at Dr Cullen Park.

The Model County had trailed by 0-7 to 0-3 at one juncture but hit the last six points of the first-half to forge clear by 0-9 to 0-7 at the interval. Both teams were reduced to 14 men in the first-half with Carlow’s Marty Kavanagh and Wexford’s Tomas Waters both dismissed.

Yet second-half goals by Paul Morris and Rory Jacob proved integral to Wexford’s ultimate victory with Carlow’s Eoin Nolan dismissed late on.
