WTF?

Romanian team miss open goal… but score from 50 yards seconds later

That’s one way to spare your team-mate’s embarrassment.

ALL THOSE LATE nights watching dodgy satellite feeds of Romania’s Liga I have finally paid off…

Occasional Champions League participants CFR Cluj and struggling Sageata Navodari played out a remarkable 15 seconds of football on Monday.

The game was only a minute old when Cluj defender Vasile Maftei missed a sitter, somehow skewing the ball wide from a yard out with the goal at his mercy.

But Maftei’s blushes were spared a few seconds later when the ball broke to team-mate Damjan Dokovic on the half-way line.

Dokovic hoofed the ball back towards the box and then watched as a fortunate bounce took it over the head of Sageata keeper Krisztian Pogacsics and into the empty net.

You’d think that the rest of the game might struggle to live up to those frantic few seconds but there was still plenty of entertainment to come. Cluj won 6-1.
