Cluxton to skipper Irish for Rules Series in Oz

Manager Anthony Tohill names the first 18 members of his squad ahead of their two International Rules Tests in Australia.

DUBLIN’S ALL-IRELAND HERO Stephen Cluxton will captain the Ireland panel – which includes Tadhg Kennelly – in the upcoming International Rules Series.

Manager Anthony Tohill named an 18-man squad for the tour at Croke Park this morning. He will add five more players to that selection before they depart for two Tests down under.

Former Kerry and Sydney Swans star Kennelly retired from Aussie Rules recently but will line out one more time for his country.

“I would like to sincerely thank all on the panel who have trained extremely hard over the past number of weeks,” Tohill said, “The level of commitment has been exemplary.

“The strong interest shown amongst players demonstrates the enthusiasm for the game and the importance players place on representing their country.”

Ireland will play Australia in games in the Etihad Stadium Melbourne, on 28 October and the Metricon Stadium in Gold Coast on 4 November.

Here’s Tohill’s 18-man squad:
