CM Punk is finally set to make his UFC debut in September

The former professional wrestler will take his place on the UFC 203 card.

ONE OF THE most high profile UFC signings in recent years is finally set to make his debut with the organisation.

CM Punk left the WWE in 2014 and took up mixed martial arts training later that year as he sought a new challenge.

On 10 September he will finally take to the octagon for the first time when he faces Mickey Gall in a weltherweight bout at UFC 203 in Cleveland.

Gall, a 2-0 well-regarded prospect, earned his shot with a 45-second submission win over Mike Jackson in February.

Before he started training with Duke Roufus two years ago, Punk had no previous combat sports experience and very little martial arts training outside of some Brazilian jiu-jitsu with Rener Gracie.

UFC 203 is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between defending champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Alistair Overeem while the co-main event, former heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum meets Ben Rothwell.
