Confirmed: Irish women's 4x400m relay team qualify for Olympics

The team secured qualification after finishing 13th overall behind Italy.

THE IRELAND WOMEN’S 4x400m relay team have qualified for the Olympics, it has been announced.

The qualification period for the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m Relays at the Games of the XXX Olympiad, London 2012 finished on July 2.

The IAAF has officially named the Irish Women’s 4x400m team as one of the 16 teams, with the team placing 13th overall behind Italy.

The nominations by Athletics Ireland to the OCI for the team members is as follows:

Joanne Cuddihy (KCH AC)

Michelle Carey (Dublin Striders AC)

Claire Bergin (DSD AC)

Marian Heffernan (Togher AC)

Jessie Barr (Ferrybank AC)

Catriona Cuddihy (KCH AC)
