IRELAND U21 INTERNATIONAL Corey Whelan has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan from Liverpool.
The 20-year-old is a product of the Railwaymen’s junior academy and rejoins the club on a four month deal until 7 January.
Whelan has yet to make a senior appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side and spent last season on loan at Yeovil, where he made 11 appearances.
Whelan, who was born in Chester, initially joined Liverpool’s Academy from Crewe at U10 level. He was recently appointed the Reds’ U23 captain last season.
“Corey started out life in the Crewe Alex academy before being signed by the Reds in 2007 aged nine,” a club spokesman said on Friday.
